This World Bank site aims to be “a one‐stop source of statistics and indicators disaggregated by gender”, gathering together data from national statistical sources, United Nations databases and World Bank‐funded or conducted surveys.

Statistics are accessed directly and quickly from the simple, low‐graphic home page. The “Summary gender profile” is particularly useful for ready reference questions or undergraduate papers on current issues. It provides statistics on life expectancy, illiteracy, labor and unemployment, education, and health including maternal mortality rates, contraceptive prevalence and HIV prevalence by gender for a selected country, its region and the income group of the country.
