Dictionary of Gnosis & Western Esotericism

Every now and again, a wholly unique book appears, like Burton's Anatomy of Melancholy, Cervante's Don Quixote, or Ambrose Bierce's Devil's Dictionary. This dictionary follows – in the best sense – in that tradition. Historically and culturally, theologically and philosophically, gnosis (in the sense that we try to know transcendence and attain the divine realm through understanding the monad of the reflective self and through hermetic contemplation) and esotericism (religion and beyond) are domains where alchemy and astrology, secret knowledge and Neo‐platonism, Freemasonry and Rosicrucianism, Tantric mysticism and New Age thought converge.
