Encyclopedia of American Opera

Opera is often associated with Italy and other European countries such as France, Austria or Germany. This resource demonstrates that since the eighteenth century, the US has made a contribution to this music genre especially since the mid‐twentieth century. The approximately 1,750 entries (750 on opera‐related topics, 1,000 on people), include coverage of everything related to American opera including composers, librettists, singers, relevant recordings and opera companies.
