This book is an interesting and engaging mélange which handily, albeit not comprehensively, accomplishes what it sets out to do, namely, “examine the most important interactions” between politics, the media, and popular culture primarily “since the dawn of the twentieth century” (Introduction, p. xi). While previously published works circumnavigate the topic, addressing dyadically, either politics and the media, politics and popular culture, or the media and popular culture, this one seeks to directly tackle the confluence of all three.
