Trees of Panama and Costa Rica

This book was put together by scientists from the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute in Panama … and it shows. Despite the book claiming to cover both Panama and Costa Rica together, the focus (as the authors freely admit) is almost entirely on Panama. It would be impossible for a book of this size to cover all of the tree species to be found in this incredibly biodiverse part of Latin America; the book covers almost 500 of the more common species in detail, but the authors explain that in their own research they have established a list of 2,321 species...
