The War of 1812 is remembered quite differently in Canada than it is in the USA. While most citizens of the USA could not answer why the USA and Great Britain went to war in 1812, Canadians view the war through an entirely different lens. It was, from their perspective, a war of invasion, fought over issues that had little to do with their needs, but rather those of Great Britain and the USA. Still, Canada paid a great price during this war, and while there was no territory gained or lost, the war remains strong in the country's memory....
