This edited anthology comprises 30 chapters in 6 areas: library administration, collection development and management, teaching, knowledge creation/scholarship, buildings and physical spaces and promotion and marketing. The foreword, written by former MOMA library director Clive Phillpot, begins, “Why is there a demand for a handbook of art and design librarianship? […] Would not a handbook of librarianship be enough?” (p. xvii). The rest of volume vacillates between two different answers to those questions.
