All the leading publishers of bilingual French/English dictionaries now have electronic versions of their books on the market: Collins, Harrap and Oxford; with Routledge offering more specialized technical and business‐oriented products. These tools are powerful complements to word processors and other computer software for work, study or leisure purposes. The Oxford Hachette French Dictionary on CD ROM demonstrates all the excellence of its paper companion and even more. The paper versus electronic sources debate may continue in the library world, but even ardent technophobes will struggle to dismiss the qualities of this particular CD‐ROM.
