Jules Verne is undoubtedly one of France’s most translated novelists yet, according to the principal authors of the Jules Verne Encyclopaedia, Brian Taves and Stephen Michaluk Jr, he is sometimes misrepresented in the English‐speaking world through poor translations, adaptations, or even censored versions of his books. The authors are concerned that he has been seen by some as uniquely a writer for children, rather than as a writer for all ages.
