Following the outstanding Putnam series of detailed histories of United Kingdom and United States aircraft manufacturers, Glasnost is now allowing a progression into and through prominent Russian aircraft designers and manufacturers. In fact, coverage of the UK and USA is still not complete, and I still hope for more volumes, but it is pleasing to see this series both continue its existence and expand its coverage. Earlier volumes in this series had covered Russian aircraft generally, and more recently the first foray into a Russian design bureau dealt with Tupolev.
