Your correspondent has from time to time pressed on the executive editor of the World Bibliographical Series the merits of experienced reference librarians, as opposed to the claims of academic country specialists, as compilers of these useful bibliographies. There are valid arguments on both sides of course but when, as in this instance, you find a compiler who qualifies on both counts, then you have the best of all possible worlds.
