Before embarking on their projects, compilers of reference books should always sit back and try to get a mental picture of the eventual users of their volumes ‐ what they will want, and how best to satisfy their needs. It is pleasing to report that Michael Anthony has done precisely this. As an historian his ambition was always to write a history of Trinidad and Tobago,his native country, and when he was invited to cover T & T in the Latin American Historical Dictionaries Series he seized the opportunity.

Of course, this volume is presented in dictionary, not in chronological...
