A reference book translated from the Gaelic is a rarity indeed. This one was originally written for the use of secondary school pupils in the Isles who wished to investigate the surviving ecclesiastical remains in their vicinity; but the coverage extends even to remote and uninhabited islands like Sulasgeir and Rona (such sites were favoured by the Celtic saints).
