Santa Fe is one of the oldest cities in the USA. Situated in north‐central New Mexico, it was founded by Spanish colonists from Mexico City in the year 1610. When Richard Harris set about writing this guide for architecture and history travellers he was confronted with the information that there were about 10,000 historic buildings in the city, which is the third largest in the state of New Mexico.
