Students of library history will need no prompting as to the identity of Sir John Ballinger, the subject of this bibliography. Others may need to be reminded that he was born in Monmouthshire in 1860 and launched his professional career at the age of 15 in the public library at Cardiff, then known as the Cardiff Free Library.
