Babel Guide to Scandinavian and Baltic Fiction

This is turning into a useful series for librarians, lecturers and students keen to expand their knowledge of twentieth century literatures in translation. Already Italian and Portuguese, French and German, Jewish and now Scandinavian and Baltic have appeared, and more are on the way (Spanish, Modern Greek, Dutch, and Arab). Typically, the Scandinavian work contains some 90 “representative” works in translation, published in UK or US editions since 1945. The originals are nineteenth and twentieth‐century, and include Danish and Estonian, Faroese and Finnish, Icelandic and Latvian, Lithuanian and Norwegian, Sami (Lapp) and Swedish.
