Gwillim Law has gathered together in a very systematic way details of the administrative subdivisions of countries and of changes to these since 1900. The entry for each country gives the ISO 3166 country code, and, where appropriate, the FIPS or NUTS codes: these are US and EU codes which are similar to, but not the same as, ISO. Basic facts on language(s), time zone in relation to GMT (together with an indication if daylight saving occurs) and capital city are given at the head of each entry.
