(Children’s) Traditional Tales from Ancient Greece: Traditional Tales from Norse Lands

I thought that these books seemed familiar: it turns out that they are the first two volumes in a new series for younger readers (seven‐ to nine‐year‐olds) re‐using the illustrations from the earlier Myths and Legends series (cf. RR 98/251 for the Norse volume). The texts, of course, are new, although based on the re‐tellings by Philip Ardagh in the previous (concurrent?) series. Double‐page spread introductions give as clear an account of the ancient Greek and Norse worlds as children of the target age are likely to need (especially for the Norse idea of the universe), then we are straight...
