The importance of the Arab world in international affairs is obvious to anyone who reads a newspaper, and probably most of the important people in the Arab world ‐ 6,000 of them ‐ are included in this biographical dictionary, first published in 1966. Only the Lebanon is excluded, being the subject of another volume from the same publishers. Those included are, as usual, limited by the fact that some of those invited to contribute have not filled in the questionnaire.
