This is the second of two collections of critical viewpoints edited by Nicholas Karolides, who is Professor of English at the University of Wisconsin‐River Falls. He also wrote Banned Books: Literature Suppressed on Political Grounds (New York, Facts on File, 1998). The first collection first appeared in 1993 with a new impression in 2001, and sought to provide rationales for teachers and people interested in young people’s reading “in defence of frequently censored and challenged books” for the period 1950‐1985.
