I don’t really need to review this volume as the editor has summed up the problem with refreshing honesty in his lengthy introduction: “Sociological theory is now so diverse that it is difficult to see any unity ever emerging. Sociologists do not agree on what is real, what our epistemology is, and what our theories should look like. As is evident in the chapters in this volume, some interesting, if not brilliant work is being done … but it would be difficult to see much unity among the theoretical positions argued in each chapter.”
