These, three uniformly bound squat volumes, 28cms in length by 21.5cms wide, printed on acid free paper, are obviously marketed for the reference shelves of educational establishments. Each volume consists of “Acknowledgements”, and “Introduction”, a “Chronology”, the entries alphabetically arranged, a brief “Selected Bibliography”, an “Index” covering each volume, and a “List of Entries” covering the three volumes. The first volume is concerned with US literature during “The Colonial and Revolutionary Era 1607‐1814”. The second covers “The Age of Romanticism and Realism 1815‐1914” and the third volume focuses on “The Modern and Postmodern Period from 1915”.
