This site is a cornucopia of freely accessible Canadian visual and audio history. The Archives Project was launched in 1998 with hundreds of thousands of hours of radio and television history – at both the CBC and Radio‐Canada – being restored, preserved and catalogued for safe‐keeping and future generations’ use. Stemming from a 1995 report on the Preservation and Enhanced Use of Canada’s Audio‐Visual Heritage, conservators forced the CBC to recognize the fact that either they began preserving this vital resource or it would simply “fade away”.
