Oxford Paperback Reference is a very useful series of reasonably priced books covering a wide range of subjects. The Dictionary of Astronomy was first published in 1997, and here is a revised version after just six years. The editor and the 20 other contributors have put together 4,080 entries ranging from theoretical astrophysics to space exploration. Among the entries are the big bang, star formations including the traditional zodiac constellations, which are used to identify areas of space, acronyms like WIMP and MACHO, telescopes, technical terms and features of planets in our solar system.
