The Atlas of US and Canadian Environmental History is a comprehensive reference book. It covers seven periods in the environmental history of the USA and Canada in seven chapters beginning with European Exploration and the Colonial Era and ending with Contemporary Environmentalism from the 1980s to the present. The extensive period from 1492 to the 1770s, subject of the first chapter, is untypical. The remaining six chapters focus on shorter periods of environmental history.
