The first edition of this title was published only nine years ago, and obviously did well enough to justify this second edition, timed to coincide with the tercentenary of the invention of the pianoforte. The editors have taken the opportunity to include the results of research conducted in the interim. The coverage is extensive; each entry carries its contributor's signature, and most have bibliographical references.
