The Cambridge Companion to Canadian Literature

I expected The Cambridge Companion to Canadian Literature to be a straightforward canter through the A‐Z of Canadian writers, providing brief biographical and bibliographical details, far from it. Through a series of essays by scholars and teachers of the subject, the work aims to offer a comprehensive introduction to the major works, topics and genres in Canadian literature. However, even that statement of intent does not quite do justice to this work, which draws on history, culture and theory to explore the “Canadian‐ness” of Canadian literature.
