T.E. Lawrence (1888‐1935) was one of those rare individuals endowed by nature not with a single talent, but with several. Had he not been a prime mover of one of the most remarkable military campaigns of the twentieth century, we may suppose that he might have made his mark as an archaeologist, a writer, or perhaps even as a an engineer.
