Edward Lengel, Associate Professor and editor on the staff of the Papers of George Washington at the University of Virginia, has, with World War I Memories, compiled and annotated an important, compact volume. Lengel divides the over 1,400 entries from “belligerent nations (p. v) into 12 chapters based on the home country: Australia and New Zealand, Austria‐Hungary, Canada, France, Germany, the UK, Italy, Russia, South Africa, Turkey, the US and other countries combined”.
