This biennial World List is a companion work to the International Handbook of Universities (RR 2004/77) and the World Higher Education Database CD‐ROM, all publications compiled by the International Association of Universities (IAU) and the Unesco Information Centre on Higher Education. Whereas the Handbook contains pretty full information on some 8,000 universities, the World List has a wider coverage, listing, in addition to universities, other institutions offering degrees.
