The introduction to the Facts on File Encyclopedia of Biology indicates that its purpose is to “present the basic concepts in biology and its peripheral disciplines like ecology, botany, and even earth science”. It would be an appropriate addition to an undergraduate college, public or high school library seeking to add an easy to understand source of definitions related to biology. While the title, Encyclopedia of Biology, implies that this work is an encyclopedia, a more accurate title would be “Encyclopedic dictionary of biology”.
