After the success of the Oxford Companion to Irish Literature, Oxford University Press produced a similar exercise for Irish history (1998). This second edition, now released as a paperback, brings current affairs up to the year 2001 and expands the scope of the original in the fields of pre‐history, the visual arts, and literary figures.
