I can claim something in common with the great Doctor Johnson: his handwriting was just about as illegible as my own. At least his amanuensis seems more legible. Perhaps that is why this batch of revisions made by Johnson, and by an amanuensis, to a first folio copy of his Dictionary never made it into print. Nobody seems to know why: perhaps just a printer's oversight or perhaps Homer nodding. Now, some 250 years later we can see some of the changes Johnson intended, and of most interest, can see the lexicographer and his team at work in his revisions....
