The Caribbean is a part of the world with diverse cultures and a long and fascinating literary tradition. This encyclopedia gives special attention to the political, cultural, and historical contexts in which Caribbean authors have lived and worked, unlike, claims the editor, other reference sources on the subject which tend to focus on the language aspects, and then mainly the Hispanic.
