Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World has been a standard reference work since it was first published in 1929 under the authorship of G.H. Baillie. Baillie compiled a new and enlarged edition in 1947, but since his death, copyright restrictions prevented updating. A compromise was to publish, as a second volume, new material that had been collected by Brian Loomes. The two volumes were published as Volume One and Volume Two in 1976.
