Libraries have seen a flurry of new works related to African‐American history arrive on the scene in recent years. Both Oxford (Appiah and Gates, 2005) and Macmillan published multi‐volume print sets and vendors have developed a variety of online resources related to the African‐American experience. The Encyclopedia of African‐American History and Culture is the largest new set to arrive for print reference collections. It is an ambitious project, completed with the assistance of the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture at the New York Public Library.
