The Archimedes Palimpsest is a manuscript of 174 parchment folios containing seven treatises by Archimedes. In the 1200 the manuscript's parchment paper was reused as a prayer book. This is why the manuscript was not found for centuries. Archimedes is best known for the Archimedes's Screw, the Puzzle of King Hiero's Crown (see the database), and the Defence of Syracuse. His mathematical treatises, inventions and studies in the area of science are well known. Archimedes knowledge of geometry helped to utilize the pulley, the fulcrum lever and his studies in physics assisted him in the study of water displacement.
