Bryant and Peck's substantial work offers more than 100 separate essays on a range of topics in the sociological canon. Rather than an over‐arching review of the content, I have concentrated primarily on the structure and functionality of these two volumes.
The two volumes are split into 20 parts. It is surprising that there is neither an introductory overview nor plenary conclusions offered at the start or finish of the constituent parts. The individual writers are clearly experts and highly respected academics in their respective fields, but the work may have been enhanced by offering more of a thematic overview....
