This book, containing over 250 speeches by more than 200 people, is to be welcomed for two reasons. Firstly, because it usefully contains the landmark speeches that are part of our culture, for example Lincoln's Gettysburg Address; Churchill's “We shall fight on the beaches”; Martin Luther King's “I have a dream”; and Kennedy's “Ich bin ein Berliner” – speeches that librarians get asked for.
