This sizable book about percussion has an alphabetical glossary as one section, but the bulk of the book is a series of articles about different aspects of percussion – classical, rock'n'roll, South American and Turkish influences, to name but a few.
The book is heavily weighted to the interests of its predominantly American authors and would therefore appeal mostly to a US readership. For example, the chapter on Symphony Orchestra Percussion includes only US orchestras, while a list of drum set players (pp. 211‐3) is heavily weighted to US performers.
