Many years ago the humorous magazine Mad, in a satire on the Reader's Digest Condensed Books, presented a half‐page version of Gone with the Wind. That was the comparison that entered my mind when I saw this Little Book of Big Ideas, part of a new series. It boldly aims to summarise the significance of the 50 most influential figures in the history of politics (both in theory and practice) and of the ten ideas most influential on the world of today.
