The first thing to say about this reference tool is that it is an essential start to anyone wishing to understand Australian politics. However, it does not cover the whole of the political scene in the country – there is a definite leftist bias because the two editors, Professor Brian Galligan and Dr Winsome Roberts, are both lecturers in political science and social policy at the University of Melbourne.
