Derek Hayes' newest work, the Historical Atlas of California with Original Maps is a fine follow‐up to his well‐received previous works such as the Historical Atlas of the United States (Hayes, 2007) and the Historical Atlas of the Pacific Northwest (Hayes, 1999).
