National Clearinghouse for Paraeducator Resources: Paraeducator Pathways into Teaching

Paraeducators are teachers' assistants. For many paraeducators, this is the chance to see if they want to pursue a degree and become a professional teacher. Others decide to remain as paraeducators. For those that wish to become teachers, this may be one possible means of redressing the imbalance in education in the USA: as this site notes, less “than 13% of all current teachers are persons of colour, while over one third of their students are of colour”.
