Biology‐Online.org is a freely available online resource. According to the website it was set up in 2001 and is visited over 25,000 times every day. The Biology‐Online.org core team is made up of six to eight researchers from a range of biological disciplines. Anyone wishing to contribute to the site must first register. This is free and only requires a username, password and e‐mail account. An authentication e‐mail is used to activate the user's account. Currently the site has over 22,000 registered users.
