The Barren Lands Digital Collection

The Barren Lands Digital Collection highlights two exploratory surveys in the Barren Lands of then northern Saskatchewan and Manitoba (now known as Nunavut) in the late nineteenth century by J.B. Tyrrell and James Tyrrell for the Geological Survey of Canada. The Collection also includes material on the survey of Hudson Bay in 1885 and the 1900 survey of the area between Great Slave Lake and Hudson Bay. The Collection is based on over 5,000 images from original notebooks, correspondence, photographs and published reports housed in the Robarts Library, University of Toronto.
