Brick is one of the most durable, versatile, economical, widespread and fashionable of building materials. For many decades the indispensable book on English brickwork was History of English Brickwork (Lloyd, 1925) (re‐issued in 1983) brought up to date by English Brickwork (Brunskill and Clifton‐Taylor, 1977).
