The present volume is a new edition of a work first published in 2003, which described the regimes of Argentina, Chile and Uruguay. This new edition is more than just an update of the original work; it has been expanded to include material relating to Bolivia, Brazil and Paraguay as well as including more information overall. Together with the original edition the present volume forms part of the well‐established series Historical Dictionaries of War, Revolution and Civil Unrest, that also includes volumes on the Afghan wars, the American Revolution and the Holocaust.
