A Cultural History of Childhood and Family

The aim, as Foyster says in her general introduction to this encyclopaedia, is to bring together the vast amount of literature about family life and childhood and augment it with contextual commentary from a group of editors and authors who come from all over Europe and the Americas. The result is impressive: a six‐volume set that spans the centuries from antiquity to the modern age, looking at customs, social and religious politics, and family structure. Each volume has its own editors, with Foyster and Marten overseeing the whole.
