Dorling Kindersley's familiar attractive presentation style makes this huge and heavy book a visually arresting reference. Throughout, textboxes and photographs share page space with illustrative diagrams and drawings, the main text wrapped around the demonstrative graphics, but never buried underneath them. If it was not for the visceral nature of some of these graphics, one could even imagine The Complete Home Medical Guide making a very good “coffee table book”. It all adds to the accessibility of the book though, and helps justify its claim to be “the essential reference for every family”.
